Then, it happened. Everything changed.
First, the publisher who had Dolly decided he'd no longer publish books. He was very apologetic, and said he'd be willing to stick to the contract we had, but didn't think he'd be able to "put forth the effort to make it a success." Well fucka buncha that. Dolly is now off seducing some other poor unsuspecting editor, and I've got high hopes for that.
Second, that short story I intended to spend maybe a week cranking out? It grew. A lot. I kept being unsatisfied with the unanswered questions that kept occuring to me while writing it.THAT was frustrating as shit, but now I'm having fun with it. And no, it's not finished yet, but when it is, it's gonna rock. The tough part is that I'm dividing my time between first drafting that, while rewriting Casualties.
Third, a few real life things have really made this a difficult winter. Personal shit. Enough said.
On the plus side, Horror Library Volume 5 came out, and it's horribly beautiful. It's got a short story of mine in it, called "Ambrosia," and I'm honored to be in the company of some of the best writers in the field. Drop by Amazon and grab a copy!
Also, that next big thing? I suppose it's a testament to its strength that I'm still jazzed about writing it, even though I haven't even touched it yet. Right now it's just a folder on my desktop with a few weird, cryptic notes in it. More on that when I can get to it!
Take care of each other, and read a lot. It's good for you
