Biography
My name is Dev Jarrett. William Devereaux Jarrett III if we were being formal, but I'm not a very formal guy. I'm originally from Georgia, and after almost 25 years in the US Army, we've finally moved back down south, living in the beautiful state of South Carolina. I'm married to Jennie, the most amazing woman in the world, and luckily, our kids take after her in all the best ways. I've only recently hung up the uniform, moving on to bigger, better, and more fun things. You've probably read authors thanking their spouses for putting up with their head-in-the-clouds writer habits, but Jennie not only puts up with my weird writing habits--she has also put up with Army life, getting moved from place to place, and taking care of all the important stuff when I have drop everything and go to the other end of the planet. I know she's as happy as I am to move on to other things.
It's been an adventure. I've been blown up by insurgents in Afghanistan, I've eaten baby chickens still inside their eggshells and barbecued python in the Philippines, I've sat out on the DMZ on a cold February morning, and I heard the song "One Night in Bangkok" on the first night I actually spent in Bangkok. My family and I have lived all over the place, and it's nice to finally put down real roots.
I'm a writer. I'm repped by the amazing, stupendous Barbara Poelle of the Irene Goodman Literary Agency. She and I have a few projects in the works that should see the light of day soon. Before her gaining the wisdom of her guidance, I somehow got four other novels and a novella published, in addition to a big stack of short stories. You can check them out on the Works page. The first, Loveless, was published by Blood Bound Books, and the other three, Dark Crescent, Casualties, and Little Sister were all published by Permuted Press You can get them all from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books a Million...pretty much wherever you buy books.
The novella has gone out of print. It was called Family Tradition, and no, it had nothing to do with the Hank Williams, Jr. song (but if someone wants to purchase the movie rights, I think that'd make one hell of a good addition to the soundtrack. Just sayin'.). It's actually a charming little story about a family of north Georgia cannibals. Maybe someday the story can be retold, but for now...it's resting.
